Volunteerism - Where to go to be a positive force

Volunteering to help your community is a great way to demonstrate your love for our area and our people. Listed below are a few organizations to contact or follow to find out how you can help.

For Love With Love Charity is our own charity. Our mission is to help make Erie County a better place for its citizens, with a focus on kids. We are looking mainly for ways to make life better for the local children, giving them a more positive outlook on life from the beginning. Cleaning parks is an important initiative as it encourages the learning of life skills to youth.

Follow our For Love With Love Face book page to see what our next event will be. So far we have tackled Farwell Park, McArthur Park, Lions Park, and Bay View Park. We are mobilizing forces to help tackle the Old Bridge in Bay View, as well as several more parks in Sandusky in the coming year.

The City of Sandusky Greenhouse is always seeking help to keep the parks clean and the gardens beautiful. Please stop by the greenhouse at 601 Franklin Street and ask to join their volunteer program.

Project Noelle. Our mission is to help the children who have been negatively affected by the opioid epidemic. We need volunteers to help at our events doing anything from taking tickets, to food, to games. We will need help with Christmas sign ups and wrapping.

OHGo is an organization that uses converted food trucks to deliver needed goods to children at their home and provide positive social and learning experiences in their own neighborhood.

The Volunteer Center of Erie County mobilizes people and resources to deliver creative solutions to the community's problems and needs.

Firelands Habitat For Humanity is a volunteer-driven organization. We welcome people from all walks of life to join us as we build simple, decent, affordable houses in partnership with God and families in need. Though the vast majority have no construction experience or building skills, volunteers are involved in most phases of construction.

The Humane Society of Erie County is always in need of volunteers to help with many different tasks, including caring for animals.

The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.

Volunteer Match is a nifty website that shows local volunteer opportunities nationwide. The link we provided is directed to Sandusky area opportunities. It has only what places ask them for help but it is a great place to start. Some of the listings here come from there.
